ANIMAL CONTROL

The Animal Control Section of the Perry Police Department, managed by the uniformed Patrol Division manages and protects the animal population of Perry. We enforce the animal ordinances that protect the health and welfare of the citizens of Perry and we strive to place as many unwanted animals as possible into suitable homes.

The Perry Animal Shelter is located behind the City of Perry's Maintenance Facility at the intersection of Ball Street and Tucker Road, next to Tolleson Lumber Company. The Shelter provides lost and found information, animal care education, and pet adoption services.

All dogs residing within the city limits of Perry must be registered with the City. For the cost of this registration you may contact the Tax & License Department (478) 988-2700, located in the Perry Municipal Building, at 1211 Washington Street.

The Perry Animal Shelter offers animals for adoption year round. To adopt a pet you can stop by the shelter Monday through Friday, (excluding holidays) between 8:00am and 5:00pm or you may call (478) 988-2888 or (478) 338-0199. In cooperation with the shelter the Friends of the Perry Animal Shelter, FOPA, also have pets for adoption at Pets Mart located on Watson Blvd, in Warner Robins on Saturday. There is an adoption fee and you can call the shelter for current rates.

Perry Animal Control provides humane education and responsible pet ownership presentations to schools and other organizations. At these presentations, our Animal Control Officers emphasize such topics as public safety, dog bite prevention, responsible pet ownership and the humane care of animals. If you need an Animal Control Officer to respond to you to handle an animal complaint you must contact the Houston County 911 Center by calling 911 or (478) 542-2000. An officer will be sent to you. Animal Control operates daily from 8:00am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday (excluding holidays).
